Took the
bikes out for a spin yesterday afternoon. We peddled downhill to Ironbridge and
sat in the sun outside the Brewery enjoying a couple of beers just
watching the river, and the world in general, float by.
Coming home
was always going to be uphill and as I shot off up the road in front of Jayne
she directed me along a route that differed from our usual easy gradient, this
must have been a 1:4, and she was soon off the bike and walking. I carried
on for mile after mile of this steep gradient and then turned round to have a
blast downhill with the intention of walking back up again with the Good Lady
Wife.
She was
nowhere in sight so I went to the start of our usual homeward bound route when
she rang me. She had taken a short cut and was actually now miles in front of
me. However she was convinced that I was in front and put on a spurt, meanwhile
knowing I was behind her I took the bit between my teeth and put the effort
into catching her, but it took to the Town Park
before I did so.
